can you train a fish?
JAH asked:
I think my fish is trained, it swims real fast and splashes water when it wants to eat, and if we stick objects in the tank, he will bite them, Does anyone else have a fish that does tricks?

not really but in some cases kind of. I have a oscar fish who can identify if its me or anotehr person. so if i come hes swims against the glass thinking im going to give it food or if its another person he hides. also i can pet him while noone else can
Mine rolled over and played dead…this must be a long trick?
i don’t know about doing “tricks”, but sometimes my goldfish chase each other. I have two that look identical, and one that is a little bigger and a different breed. The bigger one chases one of the little ones, and the little one will hide, and he’ll see the other little one and he’ll think that was the one he was chasing. He’s dumb. But they are clever to hide!
i think most of these are just natural reactions. most fish have a memory span of only a few seconds.
Yes. One of my friends has successfully trained his betta to swim through a hoop.

I don’t know about trained fish, but trained people YES. In the store we had a Pacu that if you did not face the tank and look as if you were talking to him while doing your sale of the other fish he would play dead until he got attention.
i have seen a trout taught how to play water polo it was quite good at it but the game was a bit one sided as he was the only player
Yes, absolutely! I’ve trained my betta to jump up and take food off of my fingers and I know of people who have trained bettas to ring a bell in order to get their food as well as other things.
