I used the treat thing for the bow, and then just pulled one leg down. Try using a long carrot (tempting) or something she doesnt get very often.
you can teach her to smile. Put a treat over her nose, until she pulls her lip up say “smile!” then she will refer to that as smile. takes time, but so cute
rearing - not a good idea. but i’ve done it.
What i like to do wiht my quarter horse for a trick i teach her to follow me around through obsticle courses and she really enjoys it even at 21 years old! I hope this helps a little ik its not exactly like bowing lol but it is fun to do.
Just be patient with her, she will learn eventually. You can try these articles:
A book “Trickonometry” helps you learn these things - there’s also videos. These I see all the time in Country Supply magazine (by Horse.com) and Valley Vet and different tack catalogs.
Be careful. A horse needs to know the difference between the cues to do a trick and the time we’re not asking him to do tricks. He CAN use it against you if he wants.
when I was about 13 years old, I taught my gelding to rear on command. It was really neat! - until we were in a parade and he got scared and started rearing up over and over and over. Then later when we had to leave the other horses and he didn’t want to - he kept rearing up over and over. People thought it was the neatest thing - while I had tears running down my little cheeks of pure anger for him using this new trick against me.
